- I really like this reference book. The authors have done a great job of compiling and cross referencing a staggering number of measurements. Using their example from the Preface, you might never need to convert Cambodian chongs to Lebanese chinbuls, but if you do, this is the tool you'll want.
It's also an interesting historical and cultural reference. Just paging through the thousands of different types of measurements that have evolved over time and in different locales, one can't help but wonder about the stories behind them.
Despite the proliferation of web-based conversion tools, there's something to be said for the sheer simplicity and comprehensiveness of this book. - This is a GREAT book - I think it has every known (and some completely baffling) measurement conversion ever devised on the face of this planet from electrical to mechanical to measures and weights to...
I really think it's got it all...
There are those times when I don't have a computer or an internet access point and "the old fashioned book" method becomes indispensable. I highly recommend this reference book if you're like me and can't remember every conversion you may use in a week... - good book settles a lot of arguments with good info
- Saw this referenced in a review for the PocketREF, which is a great toolbox & workbench reference. Not to mention fun read... This one is slightly different. It has conversion formulas for just about anything, currency, weights, volume, areas, geometries, etc...
After taking about 10 to 12 minutes understanding how to use, I found myself surfing the book contents for about another 40 minutes or so. Who knows the formula for an ancient hebrew measuring weight to modern lbs & or kg? It's in this book... So this one is a cool keeper reference.
Granted the currencies are a couple of years out date, but very useful still.
Print while small, is clean and legible. No smudged or unreadable pages. - Great price for such a helpful little book, lots of useful measurement conversions and many more I might never need but still fun to have!
